Every Friday, we’ll ease your cravings for a hit/fic by passing on something that’s been rec’d to us. This means that if there’s a fic you wanna see, you’ll need to submit it! Stories that fit the theme of our upcoming podcast are most appreciated.

For today’s reading pleasure, Jess would like to rec To the Wolves by Jezunya.

TwilightCakes told us, “First of all, this fic is so original and creative that it is unlike anything else out there. That alone is something to be celebrated! Jezunya is a wonderful author that makes me wait on pins and needles for the next chapter. She had managed to create a completely unique fantasy world, yet she has beautifully woven in all of the Twilight characters to tell this story. It's wild and adventurous, but lets the two main characters, Jacob and Nessie, really shine as their relationship develops into something more. Everyone that I rec this fic to absolutely loves it, whether they are really Jake/Nessie fans or not.”

Althea was first to see this pop in our queue and pointed it out to me, knowing it was right up my alley. What she didn’t know was that wordslinger had already found this fic and had me start reading a while ago. So how could I not invite my girl back to share the pleasure of pimping this fic with me?

Summary:

To prevent open war with the neighboring Quileute kingdom, Carlisle Cullen must give up the first daughter born to his family and throw her to the wolves... literally.

A fantasy AU fic of adventure, political intrigues, murder, seduction, war... and, of course, true love at first sight.

Jess’ official pimping:

Just like last time, wordslinger and I didn’t edit ourselves. This fic is only ten chapters in, so we can’t really spoil the whole thing for you, but we did talk about all ten chapters.

Jess: I think we should begin by making sure readers know that they should check everything they know about SM's universe at the door... and that isn't because this is an AH fic.

Wordslinger: Oh, I agree. She says that in her Chapter 1 A/N, but we can reiterate it.

I think that I found this fic on Twilighted. Her banner was pretty, and I was fairly green in the fanfic world, just looking for all things Jacob.

I don't usually read T fics, because I'll admit that most of the time I'm in this for the smut. I'm a perv.

But the prologue left me so excited! Carlisle's journals really set the tone for the story.

Jess: We should. ‘Cause if we don't make them want to read it, they won't ever see the author's note! :)

I found this fic when you told me I should be reading it. LOL

Though there's no smut, this fic has some dark spots that I'm not sure should fall under T. I'm a total perv too. But this fic is so fucking unique, set in its own unique world, that I just had to give it a shot.

Yes, Carlisle's journals were a really cool intro.

Wordslinger: Ok, then. Leave your Twilight assumptions at the door. This is a fairy tale! A good one!

There are several dark spots. Let's talk about the way Nessie (unlike some members of her family) accepted her fate. She knew what was expected of her. She wasn't bitter. She didn't blame Jacob. She only wanted peace.

I think the first scary part was where she was attacked by the rogue vamps, and Jacob had to phase to save her life. She was struggling with her latent bloodlust and was also terrified that Jacob was going to come after her.

It was pretty scary!

Jess: Oh, fairy tale is a really good way to describe it.

Yes! Nessie's maturity is amazing - reminds me of the bits of her personality seen in BD.

That was really intense. That was the first glimpse we had that the Cullens were something other than normal humans who simply refuse to eat meat.

A lot of fics have scenes that you know are supposed to feel intense, but just don't quite get there... with fanfic there's a sense that nothing can really go wrong cause we all love an HEA, right? But I was so caught up in all of that, and this fic is so different, and I understand so little of Jezunya's world that I didn't really know what was going to happen. I was totally on the edge of my seat.

And while we're on the subject of Jacob phasing... can we talk about how hawt it is that she's all 'civilized' and he's all not. It's like, Tarzan hotness. Doesn't every girl love a guy that she's a little bit afraid of too?

Wordslinger: Oh, that was definitely part of his charm. His rugged clothes, his refusal to not eat meat, LOL. It reminded me of the old westerns where the civilized women were always so appalled at the rugged behavior of the men.

What really got to me was the second time they were attacked. Afterwards, Embry confronted Jacob about the tone of his thoughts. He said Jacob was thinking of Renesmee like he would a mate. It was the first clue that he'd imprinted.

Did you notice that they didn't get that last vamp body? Do you think he'll come back for her?

Jess: You are on a roll with the great descriptions! Rugged men hold quite the appeal. Why is danger so fucking hot??

Well, it was the first clue for others. We knew Jake knew. And I was really curious why he didn't just tell his friends that he'd imprinted. Which there was obviously a major reason for. One that ties back in to canon... I've never seen anything further from canon have so many tie-ins!

Absolutely that vamp is coming back. Also, I wonder if Ness did anything to fight him off. Does she have a power we know nothing about?

Wordslinger: I liked what she did with the imprinting. How the true Alpha was the only one who could imprint. I really hate Sam here. He's a toxic leader. I thought that his demand that Jake keep the imprint a secret was pretty low. It proves that he's just "playing" king. He's terrified of losing his position.

No love for Sam here. OMG the horse scene. I was horrified. I loved how Jake stepped in and took her away. I was like *fist pump*!

I can't help but wonder what happened to the Black's line of rule, and why Sam was able to take control. I'm guessing it's all some political bullshit.

I'm totally in love with this gruff Jacob trying to do right by this poor girl who's been thrown into this situation.

Jess: Yes, the twist on imprinting is awesome.

I hate Sam too, but I get the feeling that there's more going on than we know about, and we might wind up with sympathy for him in the end. Like you said, we don't know how he came to power, and depending on why, there might be a valid reason for him to play a little dirty to stay there.

The horse scene was gross. She warned it would be but damn.

Gruff Jacob trying to take care of his girl is absolutely perfect. I love him.

Wordslinger: Well, her summary promises political intrigue! So far I've been impressed with every single chapter!

Can I say right now that this fic was the original inspiration for my own? I'd read several AUs, and they were all based on the original Twiverse. Nothing really special there.

TtW blew my socks off. I was like, "WHOA!!" I never knew an AU could be like that. So totally separate from Twilight, and yet the parallels are stunning.

Jezunya really has a grasp on her characters and a universe that's impressive. I'd never read anything like it before, and I doubt I'll ever find anything like it again.

Jess: Absolutely. There hasn't been a dull moment.

Yes, this fic, as well as Distortion, are so severely AU that they make normal AU fics look canon. We're talking new rules about how werewolves and vamps function, a whole new fantasy world, and some major changes to character personalities. And yet, you still see Twilight as you read!

You certainly won't find anything like it in fanfiction. This fic has novel strength, more so than any other fic I can think of.

Wordslinger: Not to mention the author is really sweet. She responds to reviews, and not with the normal, boring "Thanks for reviewing" bullshit. Um, and she hasn't blocked me on Twitter yet either. LOL

I might stalk her a little bit... but just a little. ;)

I truly see this story as a fairy tale of the best kind.

Um, and I know we've been over this, but her Jacob is just totally lovable. He's not this thin, empty Jacob we see a lot of the time. He's got real emotions, and pain, and a strong sense of what's right and what's wrong.

He's also struggling with what's going on with his people. On some level, he's trying to be respectful of Sam's authority (even if it is assumed) and the knowledge that he's imprinted. Which would cause some real problems for their government and society.

I'm anxious to find out what Billy's going to say when he finds out about the imprint and that Jacob brought Nessie to his house/cave/whatever. I'm also dying to know what the hell happened???

Jess: LMAO. Has anyone blocked you on Twitter? You're paranoid. :)

Yes, I said before that I love 'fairy tale' to describe this fic. It's so perfect! And let's take a moment to say that this fic is so very different that you don't need to be Team Jake to love it. He's not been a part of any love triangle that offends some readers!

We can't talk enough about Jacob, let's be honest. And this one is especially wonderful. Everything you said, plus mysterious and dangerous and troubled but not a bad boy.

There's gotta be something really interesting that makes him so blindly obey Sam when his instincts are telling him otherwise. I think it has to do with Billy. Nessie hinted at a leader before Sam who only ruled for a short time, and that one OC said there was an issue with Billy. Something went very wrong while he was in charge. I can't even try to guess how he's going to react when he hears that his son has imprinted because I get the feeling that there's something major we don't know about him.

Wordslinger: My guess is that Billy (or whomever) was against taking Nessie. Perhaps he simply wanted peace. To let sleeping dogs lie. Yes, the Quileutes suffered losses but taking Nessie won't bring those people back.

I'm thinking that Sam was elevated by steering public opinion and taking advantage of old wounds. We see this so often in RL politics. The masses elect someone who is only about serving their own special interests and not the good of all people.

Usually the populace isn't really clear on what's actually happening right in front of them. As a whole, people are emotional, and it's easy to play on that weakness.

Sam's public display with Noble & Nessie proved that. He's not a true leader. He's either a populist or simply angry. Like I said before, he's toxic.

What also interests me is the evolution of the Cullen people. They no longer drink blood. Is this a genetic thing that happened over time? It's implied that Alice came from Volterra, and that they're savages there. I like how this reflects what Edward said in Twilight, how Alice would have been a total savage without Carlisle. In TtW this was what happened.

Jess: That's a good guess, but I can't help but wonder if there's something more. I suspect Billy's mental health might be an issue. I can't give any valid reason for thinking that... I just do. Oh! But there is the fact that if Billy was Alpha, he probably imprinted on Jake's mom (Sarah, if canon), who doesn't appear to be in the picture anymore. That could certainly fuck a guy up.

Yeah, I'm interested to know more about the Cullens too. At first, I thought they just didn't eat meat (and they don't), but now we know it has to do with them staying away from blood because ancestrally, they're related to the Volturi. I totally dig that the Volturi are full on cannibals too. They don't just drink blood, they eat it all, even sucking the bone marrow out. That's hardcore. SM's Volturi look like pansies compared to these guys.

Wordslinger: This is true! SM's Volturi were somewhat civilized. Jezunya's are totally and completely savage. I thought Alice making jokes about it was pretty funny. LOL

She hasn't talked about Billy too much, but all this imprinting business implies that the Quileute rule is more like a monarchy than this democracy that clearly isn't working.

Jess: Well, the Volturi have at least made an attempt at civilization ‘cause Alice was sent to marry Jasper as part of some treaty, wasn't she?

Well, the democracy is working... just not for everyone. The people seem pretty pleased with Sam. But also, Jake mentioned that the voice of the Alpha has a power over the people when he speaks. I wonder what would have happened if Jake had stepped up and pointed out that what Sam was doing was wrong. I bet that at least some of them would have heard the Alpha in his voice and agreed.

Wordslinger: It’s not working out if the people are bitter and angry. If they can take their frustrations out on a poor girl who had nothing to do with the past, then it's not working.

Sam's power over the people comes from manipulating emotions. Not from true leadership skills. I'm hoping that Jacob can stave off his cruelty.

Jess: That's a good point. But they do think it's working.

Of course Jacob will be able to put Sam in his place! He's Jacob fucking Black!

Wordslinger: I think Tommy Lee Jones in Men in Black said it best, "A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky, dangerous animals, and you know it."

At this point, wordslinger and I got lost in discussing all the many wonderful features of Will Smith, so I went ahead and cut it there.

Jess’ Final Thought: This fic is really so far out there, away from everything you know about Twilight, that anyone can (and everyone should!) check it out and enjoy it. It really reads like a stand-alone story that might leave you wondering if the author had read Twilight.

For today’s reading pleasure, Althea would like to rec Last Tango in Forks by AwesomeSauce76.

insanemum said, “I love this concept - strangers who do not even know each others names leading such an intimate life together! This is no "one night stand". Edward is a deeply scarred artist with a dark past and Bella is a typical, small town "girl next door" nurse who just happens to be engaged to someone else. They meet accidentally and embark on an intense sexual relationship. The anonymity adds to the "smokin hawtness" and intensity of this relationship with no names. You just know that the shit is going to hit the fan at some point and that people are going to get hurt - I'm just intrigued to see who and how.”

Summary:

Bella Swan has spent a lifetime putting everyone else's needs before her own. Could a chance encounter with a mysterious stranger begin to change all of that? AU/AH

Althea’s official pimping:

Last Tango in Forks by AwesomeSauce76 is loosely based on the premise of the Bertolucci movie Last Tango in Paris, starring Marlon Brando.

Can I just say... the thought of Brandoward alone is what initially drew me to this fic. (That and the promise of butter-related activities in future chapters.) Seriously, the Brando/Pattinson amalgam that plays in my head as I read is utterly divine.

Althea's Brandoward:

The story kicks off with an encounter between Bella and a beautiful stranger, Edward, an artist, who’s hiding away in a studio that she stumbles upon. They exchange no names, no backstories. Just raw human interaction. I enjoyed getting Edward's perspective and learning what the encounter did for him:

"Therefore he couldn't help but find it odd that the moment that angelic creature had put her arms around him, he felt as if someone had flipped a switch inside his brain. She had turned him on again, and in more ways than one. He had felt pure electric pleasure coursing through him when he touched her satin skin...It disturbed him how easily he had forgotten joy."

As AwesomeSauce76 starts to reveal the backstories, we learn of the tragedy in Edward's life and get a sense that he really needs these encounters with Bella. Just to feel alive.

"He had felt powerful and wanted when he was with her, which was certainly something he had missed over the years."

Written in third person, it's really interesting to have access to what's going on inside Bella's head. With Bertolucci's Jeanne, you could never tell if she was totally clueless and just running with the scandalous taboo of meeting with this stranger, or if she was consciously rebelling against a bourgeois existence that left her truly unsatisfied. In Last Tango in Forks, we’re able to experience the complexities of Bella.

I'm interested to see where AwesomeSauce76 goes with Jake, the man Bella is cheating on to go rendezvous with Edward. So far he seems totally likable, which makes her deception and betrayal even more interesting. That she'd be willing to ruin such a viable option as Jake for the sake of the raw unknown passion of the stranger.

Speaking of the raw passion of a stranger, here Edward explains the need for anonymity:

". . .But I don't need to know your name to know everything I want to about you. I don't care what you do, where you live, whether you're married with eight kids or used to be a nun. None of that shit matters here." He gripped her calves tighter, making sure that she was paying attention to him. "That's all just window dressing. I want to know the real you, the you that nobody else has ever been allowed to see before." The you that I can call my own.

That quote is followed by some major lemony goodness. Seriously so hot, with the sucking on the fingers, then the 'show me how you do,' then the 'grab my hair,' then the 'feel what we feel like' - - AwesomeSauce76 writes a mean frickin lemon. In Last Tango in Forks, being able to let go of the conventions of the outside world translates into HOT-NESS. All throughout the story.

We meet the Cullens, and the tension builds as to whether Bella and Edward's paths will cross in real life, revealing each other's true identity. An even greater tension is building between Bella and her beautiful stranger -- will she and Edward acknowledge the feelings they have for one another? Will their relationship ever move beyond their anonymous encounters? Even if their relationship did progress, would it be sustainable outside in the challenges of the real world?

There is so much story left to go. If you dig on smutty hotness and you prefer your lemons be embedded in a compelling story with fascinating characters... Last Tango in Forks might be just the fic you're looking for!

I AM IN FUCKING LOVE WITH THIS STORY.

I was going to just say that but, OMG, I love it!

The conversation with the girls was hilarious! I love how happy and embarrassed and blushy Bella was talking about Edward.

I LOVED:

"Oh and I almost forgot, before we got to the penthouse, Igavehimablowjobintheelevator," I finish saying the last bit of information all together hoping they can't decipher or crack my code.

"Um, something spontaneous for you would be like wearing your Saturday panties on Tuesday, not giving a rock star a blow job in an elevator. Jeez, Bells, that was more than spontaneous, what the hell?" Rose states.

I loved the sexy way you ended this! HOT DAMN I love them. :) I can see the crooked smile he has as her panties are dangling from his finger. GAH! I am SO happy he went after her! And that whole exchange about Harry Connick Jr. was hilarious! :) And there he was... standing in the doorway.. GAH! BRING IT ON!

Oh jeez, I just made the mistake of reading a review that someone else had left and it really ticked me off.

For the record, I like Jacob's role in the story so far, and normally I hate him.

I like the game- it seems like fun and I wish we had something like that here to participate in!

I can't wait until you reveal more about Tony and bring him back in- at YOUR pacing and timing.

I love all the trivia we are getting. You know I love my classic rock, but I only know the songs and who sings them- I don't know the trivia and tidbits you're posting. So that is an added bonus in my opinion.

This. Is. AMAZING.

I don't think anything else I can say really captures how I feel about this story. It isn't even a story. This is an eloquent work of art.

SUPERB. I can't wait for the next update. If it takes too long, I may be forced to jump through the computer and STRANGLE Edward. Usually, I like him okay, even though I'm a die-hard wolf girl, but you have me wanting to punch him in the face!

Nessie-I LOVE her. I've only read one other story about her and Jake's relationship that captures the two as well as you do, and I've read quite a few. Both their characters are incredibly well developed and dynamic here, and the way you write their interactions and thoughts has a great flow.

I'm glad Bella got sober, too, and hopefully she'll find out about all of this blackmailing going on and put her foot down.

Again, awesome, AWESOME job. PLEASE, for the love of GOD, update soon!

Move over Renesmee, there's a new hybrid in town, and she's hornier, drunker and more badass than you, baby. I'm referring to the original character Luciana from Bforqueen's angsty epic, Fallen Princess. Do not let a hatred for Volturi fic scare you away from this one. Without giving too much away, FP is a hybrid, in and of itself; a wolf in Volturi clothing...

In the prologue, we get a window into poor Lucy's life:

My father doesn't talk about her; she was never anything more to him than an incubator, a means to an end. All I knew was that I looked like her: the same long, dark hair and the same green eyes. She'd been terrified and in a lot of pain in the short time she'd been in the castle. Her pain was ended the day I was born, the day I killed her.

No matter how I tried, I could never please my father, or my uncles for that matter. They were powerful rulers of their kind, and they hoped that with my creation, they could enter a new era. They wanted to breed an army of creatures like me - hybrids, as we were called. With our inhuman strength and ability to walk in the daylight without showing our true nature, we would be an unstoppable army. We would rule the world, both that of vampires and of humans. That's what I was made for; it's what they wanted from me. I should have been their leader, the man that would lead them to victory. Instead, I was the girl that never quite measured up.

Bforqueen writes flowery, sometimes sad lemons, fraught with Lucy's desire, not merely for sexual satisfaction but for happiness, acceptance and love. Lucy gives herself away easily, never getting the love she craves so desperately from the vampire who takes her innocence from her. By the time she’s presented with her first opportunity for love, she is too broken and jaded to recognize it. Enter the angst lemon:

The pleasure I was giving Felix made me feel more powerful than I ever felt before and I found myself wanting more. I bent down over him and slowly licked the head of his enormous erection. His hips shot upwards in response. I smirked at how easy this was. Slowly I lowered my mouth around him, taking as much in as I could, before dragging back up again.

"Oh God, that feels so good," Felix panted.

He was so big that there was no way I could take him in completely so I settled for wrapping my hands around the parts I couldn't reach with my mouth. A strange salty flavour hit my tongue; it tasted odd but good. I found myself really enjoying this.

I worked him until my jaw was sore and his movements had become so erratic that I knew he was close. With an agility that even surprised me, I moved up his body again and placed his erection against my entrance.

"I need you inside of me, Felix. Do it now," I commanded.

"Anything you say, Princess."

Felix lifted me by the hips, threw me on my back and positioned himself between my legs. He looked in my eyes intently, as if he was asking for permission.

"Please tell me if I hurt you."

I snorted.

"Just do it, Felix."

The horror of Lucy's life is palpable to the reader, but despite that, she is not a weak character. She’s not portrayed as a victim, a princess in her tower, if you will. She's tough and fun...and did I mention drunk? It's true. Like any petulant teenager, Lucy still manages to sneak out and get drunk with her human friends. That's pretty brave, considering her nanny is Jane.

But growing up a Volturi could not be without its fair share of bloodshed, as described in this flashback. Lucy's family decides early on in her young life that she must learn how to embrace her nature. I'm choosing to share now, not the most graphic excerpt from this section, but the one that is most telling about Lucy's character:

Something flew past me and landed with a loud thud against the marble wall behind me. I didn't look at it; I was afraid of what I might find. Then I noticed something warm trickle down my arm and I looked down to find that I was spattered with blood. The crimson liquid quickly soaked into my dress, creating bright, red circles against the white fabric. I started rubbing it, trying to get it out, but it only made it worse. I wanted to run away so bad, but I was trembling from head to toe and completely unable to move.

Gradually the screams faded, one by one. I thought I would be relieved, but instead I felt worse. The silence meant death. A whole group of innocent human lives were lost. I couldn't figure out why my father wanted me to witness this, surely he knew the effect it would have on me. I didn't understand why he would put me through this.

Lucy is a child in this flashback, and it’s an epiphany and a pivotal moment in her life; the point where both sides of her nature are revealed to her, and she chooses to be the lamb, rather than the lion.

So, right about now you may be wondering about the Cullens and the wolfpack, yes? Yeah, they're not in this story. No, I'm totally kidding! They are all fundamental players in this fic.

Bforqueen plays with themes of free will, not only in Lucy's parentage and her fate in accepting her birthright, but by introducing the wolves into the story and the question of imprinting. The loss of free will takes away a great love from Lucy (a certain Volturi guardsman) while introducing her to another (a certain Quileute wolf).

My fingers were digging hard into the flesh of his back, while his hands entwined themselves in my hair, pulling my head back. I sighed audibly when his mouth left mine, and his lips began a torturous trail down my neck, leaving hot, wet marks wherever he kissed me. Somewhere in the deepest realms of my subconscious, I knew this wasn't a good idea, that this was too fast, but I quickly silenced that nagging voice when his lips reached my collarbone, and he nipped at my skin. I tugged at his hair, trying to make him go lower, and he obliged. I moaned with longing, wanting even more still. I moved my hand downwards, over his chest, down his abdomen, to the front of his shorts. My hand found the evidence of his desire, and I chuckled while rubbing it up and down. He gasped and quickly yanked my hand away while taking a step backwards.

Ummmm, where was I? Oh, yeah, reviewing for the Friday Fic Fit. B's strengths are in her physical descriptions and portrayal of anguish. For all of the dark, there is some light too, and I get the feeling this author intends on giving us a happy ending.

Finally, I'd like to mention that English is not B's first language, something that astonished me after I started reading her fic. She certainly has a command over it!

It's so fun to go back and reread the chapters here on Twilighted. I'm not in such a hurry to see what's next that I can slow down and really appreciate your writing. Damn, you are just really good. So descriptive, you paint the scenes so vividly, I feel like I’m there with them.

This example: “Gulping down the lump of fear lodged in my throat, I coiled my fingers around the passenger side door handle of the old red pickup. As I guardedly cracked it open, I could sense the hairs on the back of my neck standing on end. My wide eyes soon transfixed on the cause of Ness' fainting spell, and I released a pronounced gasp, gripping my chin in horror.
The murder weapon, the wooden board I'd used to murder James Volturi, lay on the seat in clear view."

I was holding my breath the whole time I was reading this. Here’s something funny…while I was reading this I actually thought in my mind WTF? And then Jake said it right after I thought it. lol

Now I have a question. How in the world did they get the murder weapon? Didn’t Jake throw it over the cliff with the body? And if they found the weapon did they find James’ body too?

Chapter 4
I love the way you are laying the foundations for their ruin and intermingling them with the intense desire and love they have for each other. Bella's subverting her own career and needs to put Edward and his creativity first is definitely the start of some very bad things for their relationship. It's so sad to see her trying so hard to meet his needs at the expense of herself, things that will make her angry, bitter, and resentful later on. You can definitely see how this couple can go from so madly in love with each other to the passionate ending we saw in the first chapter.

Losing the baby is heartbreaking, and I'm sure that this is not going to help an already shaky relationship. Edward is already fairly absent from their marriage, so its going to be interesting to see how this will drive a further wedge in between them. Great job!

Hez - Answer me true, do you or do you not have a direct connection to the strings of my heart that hurt the most when pulled? I can't hate you for it though. How could I? It's so amazing! Everything has the perfect feel of these sad, sad memories but everything is faded like an old photograph... the pain isn't fresh and excruciating anymore, but it's still there... and now it's mixed with all this nostalgia... nostalgic pain... You know? Of course you do. You wrote this.

I swear that my reviews normally make a lot more sense than this. I don't think I've ever read a fic that touched me so personally as this one.

In thinking/talking about this fic I realized that it brings out a lot of the same emotions as Romeo and Juliet (which you must know already but I'm saying it anyway). It's a joy to watch them fall in love and everything, even though you know you can't change the future and that it's going to end so badly. And even if you COULD change the ending, would you REALLY want to? Because to change the ending would be to change it all.

I had planned to google "The Last Five Years" after I'd finished reading the available chapters but I think I wanna wait until the fic is completed. I want this to stand on its own and then hear the music that inspired it and have it all bring me right back to this. So, I think, instead, I'm gonna reread.

This story is incredible.. I love the idea of working forward from EPOV and backward from BPOV .. yes we know the outcome and I'm so sad because of it, but we see the differences from the beginning to the end. The biggest one being ch 3 to ch 4 (granted I'm only on 4) but in 3 he doesn't say no to anyone he's more invested in his career and the obligations he has because of it, where in ch 4 he even states that he has his priorities straight and he skips phone calls to be with her and she's so incredibly important to him.

Lambcullen suggested this to me and I told her it made me kinda want to slit my wrist because I know how it ends but I just can't pull myself away from it.

In my head I'm thinking that they end up working things out ... just to make myself feel better... hahahahaha

I kid - well... maybe just a little. AND GOD The letter he leaves her ... HEART CRACKED IN HALF! I've never wanted to physically hit a character... well, that's probably not true either, but I did when he came to only spend an hour with her on her birthday..gah.

ok.. anyway .. I love it and I look forward to your updates... seriously.

The transition of chapter 2 to this one is lovely-cutting from a scene of Edward sitting down to write, inspired by Bella, to the idea of Edward blazing a trail across the literary world. Yeah, I think I'm really going to enjoy this jumping around in time bit.

Oh wow. Just got to the end here. Wonderful chapter. There are so many elements to the set-up you have here that are just pure win. The idea of Bella meeting and marrying Edward before he's famous...that's always appealing. And then the conflict about Edward being famous...that's exactly how it would be. It wouldn't be all roses and kisses with someone who is in as high a demand as your Edward seems to be. And the person in the relationship who does not have as much earning power (your Bella), they feel unimportant, neglected. That's so spot-on.

Methinks Edward has gotten everything he thought he wanted (in terms of his literary career), but his achievements in that area are going to adversely impact his private life. Well, obviously. You've kinda already showed us that by beginning with the end. But still, it's a very nice reminder that fame and success really aren't all they're cracked up to be, are they? :)

Some of the characters personalities are quite unique to this story, and I am enjoying them immensely! I don't know if this is the right word but if fits the description I have of Bella in my head; she has a little bit of sass. She has her moments of self-doubt, but mostly she seems perky and I love her witty, no-holds-barred retorts. Lke to Angela for example. And can I just say at this point, your Angela is awesome! And I don't think (pretty damn sure though) I've ever read a fic where Emmett and Rose haven't just been together from the get-go. So I am loving getting to see them get their stuff together!

Loved the part when they rocked up at school together... ""I knew it, I freaking knew it!"" Alice squealed... ""Alice I believe you know my girlfriend Bella."" I couldn't help the goofy-ass grin that spread across my face. He was such a corn-ball... ""...But Bella really just because you got the guy doesn't mean you stop trying. What the hell did you do to your hair?"" Thought this was great!

Can't wait to see what Edward has planned for their day together! ;)

So, after weeks and weeks of waiting you leave us with a fucking cliffie? Seriously? Have you lost your ever lovin mind? Wait, you never had it did you? Anyway, I was tickled pink when my email showed that you updated and I went straight to reading. You totally did not disappoint. Okay, so here is my favorite line from the whole chapter, ready? He could make a dirty garbage bag look lickable. For some reason out of everything you wrote that stuck out to me. Because if we are being real here, hell yes he could! Well, I will wait as patiently as I can for you to update again. I know this busy busy thing called life keeps you occupied but God I pray that you can update real real soon. Okay, YAY, I have been waiting for this chapter!

I love that Gabriel is keeping his promise to Alice to not read everyone's minds...I think I would have promised not to but would have done it anyways. LOL.

Holy crap! It's crazy that Carlisle knew Gabriel's mother! It's a nice little coincidence, because it affords them the trust that they needed immediately.

I adored the description of Carlisle's meeting with Gabriel's mother. Especially the vampire traits from the memory.

HAHA of COURSE Gabriel figures out that the Cullens are vampires because of Jacob. BAD, Jacob! LOL

Thank goodness Jacob has Nessie, who unexpectedly saves the day. I wonder what would have happened had she not showed up and calmed Gabriel down?

Awww, I am glad that Gabriel feels comfortable with the other ""freaks"". LOL

The banter between all of the characters feels very genuine, and not forced at all.

And then he finds out that Leah is a shape-shifter! Not only that, but he gets some details about Leah's shifty past with Sam. How interesting! I think that Gabriel handles the entire situation quite well :)

""Great movie script you have here""-hahah! I laughed at this!

Okay...so he sees his parents. Very cool! Very cool the information that they pass along to him for Edward and Alice :)

""I was wrong; I hadn't found a place full of freaks. I had found hope for me."" -I loved this part! So perfect. Such a wonderful way to end such a fun chapter.

You… killed…The…Vanquish. Damn it woman. How could you? :) I feel it for Cullen. She was his baby and we *cough* he didn’t even get a backseat fuck. So fucking sad man. So fucking sad. But that moment. The background music started playing in my head. I was like “oooh people, you are so dead.” I loved the action in DfH and will surely enjoy it now too. Annnnnd, the chapter. Was. Perfect. Gave me everything I wait from a dick *cough* The Dick. From the Dick. And I’m loving The Swan waaaaay to much. The way she handles Cullen is epic. But Cullen’s cocked eyebrows are always win. Without any exceptions.

. Hey, I can speak the language of love as good as the next guy. As long as the next guy doesn't speak it very well, that is.

-          This was… God. *shakes.head.smiling* I’ll never know where the hell you find those words from but you are always coming up with something new and it’s very refreshing. Especially when you read fanfiction in a fandom where people read and write like crazy, sometimes repetitions are inevitable. Apparently, not with you. You have consistency within your characters but not repetition between your stories. Which is a god damn hard balance to set. I’m saying this as reader who read all of your stories. (Is there anything I haven’t read yet? Maybe one or two collaborations. I need to check this.) I’m enjoying this very much.

. Swan's eyes narrowed…a little, then she asked, nodding at me, ""You sure you don't wanna talk about it?"" Seriously. Did she not know the answer to that question by now?

-          See. Consistency. The very dickish attitude is always killing me. In a very pleasurable way.

. Then I bent over him, sucked in a breath of air through my teeth and said, ""That's uh…probably gonna leave a mark…"" I pointed at his head.

-          I remember saying this once before… The sounds are very rarely being used in stories. You do it often and I love it. It’s huge turn on and I’m glad you give it to us. What? The guy hisses at someone whose skull is probably opened up on the pavament… and I’m talking about getting turn on. Yeah. So what?

. ""Well, thanks again, sorry for your trouble…Mr…"" she trailed off and I told her, against my better judgment, ""Cullen, Edward Cullen and…"" Because I just couldn't fucking help myself, I added, ""I don't mind a reasonable amount of trouble,"" all Sam Spade like from The Maltese Falcon with Humphrey playin' the man.

-          I was giggling the whole time. He can be clueless sometimes. He couldn’t read his woman on the spot. C’mon Cullen. Admit it. You fucked that up. If it was the Swan who doesn't mind a reasonable amount of trouble, you would most probably give her a unreasonable amount of trouble. :)

. In the elevator that I nearly missed because Swan pushed the close door button on my ass, I leaned against the back wall and waited.

-          God, how I love this woman. :)

. You really just can't win, especially if your last name starts with ""C"" and ends with ""Ullen.""

-          HTHYCUWTS. I’ll never know. (HTHYCUWTS; how the hell you come up with this shit ;) )

. When I started hearin' a mumble here and a huff there I finally said, ""If you have something to fuckin' say, Swan, just say it."" She turned to me, narrowed eyes galore and asked, all per-fucking-snickety and what not, ""What was that, anyway?"" ""What?"" ""I don't mind a reasonable amount of trouble,"" she said and it was hard not to fucking laugh at her ass. What? I didn't, I swallowed that shit down. I'm just sayin'… Now mind you, she didn't just say that shit, she did that man voice that women like to do when they're impersonating us but it doesn't really fucking sound like us, it just highlights exactly how pissed off they are with us. The problem was, I was having a really hard goddamn time figuring out what Swan was pissed at. ""It was funny,"" I told her, smiling.

-          That’s my favorite part of the chapter. See. He has no idea. He said “it was funny” and smiled. Oh God. If at the end of the chapter, his Vanquish didn’t die, The Swan would probably give him the hell but now, I think she’ll show some mercy. Not that this shit doesn’t deserve the hell. reasonable amount of trouble… *shakes.head* p.s. (This… Oh. I’ll explain it later but I would never ever tell him “ohh, forget it.” I get pissed easily at such situations. Yeah, jealous. What?

. Emmett gave me the deer in the headlights look and Swan, well…her face morphed into one of her infamous I can't believe you just said that shit looks. What?

-          I’m living for these whats.

. ""Yo."" ""Jazz, it's Cullen."" Silence.

-          The most funny part of the chapter. You Jasper in DfH and TDiM is very unique and I love him in unique (but very appropriate) ways. This silence told so much. :)

. ""Okay you knew that…but look, I need you to pull somethin' up for me."" Swan giggling…lots and lots of Swan giggling. I eyeballed her while I waited for Jazz to get downstairs to his den of technology.

-          *giggle.snort*

. The Lieutenant threw her one of his chipped tooth, bad breath smelling smiles but for me? Nothin'. ""What's goin' down, Muldoon? I mean, besides all your lackies on your kiddie sized mc dick, that is.""

OMG! I shed a tear for the death of the Vanquish. That was some hard shit to read.

I knew that airline was mixed up with Arrow Shipping. Didn't I say they were part of a slave ring when we were learning about Seth in the first story? I want to say Aro had James take Eleazar's daughter as leverage or insurance. And of course the airline's involvment in illegal activities would be the main reason they didn't go to the cops. I'm just wondering if James has any clue the fuckery he just unleashed from Edward by blowing up his baby. I'm thinking that would be a very loud Fuck No! I don't think even James is stupid enough to knowingly push Edward's buttons like that.

Where the fuck is my love child plot? Someone somewhere has a love child and damnit I want to know who!

I found your story on a Twilight Fanfiction Awards site. To be honest, I don't remember which one. I've been perusing so many lately trying to find new stories to read. I've already read so many Twilight fanfictions, that my options are severely dwindling!

So when I found your story, I decided to give it a go. And am I ever glad that I did! In fact, I got so into it that I haven't taken the time to comment until now! I just couldn't stop reading!

I have to admit that, at first, I thought it was just another ""retelling"" of the original story (you know, human Bella meets vampire Edward, they fall in love, blah, blah, blah). But noooooo...

You had to go and throw in there that she's a ""vampire hunter""! What a freaking awesome twist! For the first time - that I can recall in any fic! - BELLA is the one with the upper-hand. That's so coooool!

From reading your A/N's at the beginning and end of the chapters, I've come to the realization that you don't believe your story is as good as it really is. In fact, I remember reading one A/N where you mentioned that you almost gave up on writing this story...! WHAT?

Oh gosh! Don't do THAT!

I can tell, just from reading your work, that you're very passionate about writing - it shows in what and how you write. And I think that if you gave up on this story, it would forever haunt you. Don't get me wrong, I'm a reader; therefore, first and foremost, I want to know how this story ends! But, I really do think that you'll kick yourself if you never finish. I know that if I were in your shoes, I'd do that to myself. As it is, I'm a complete chicken shit and haven't had the guts to post anything on ff yet. But I can feel it coming and one of these days I'll actually find the guts to do it!

I absolutely loved Edward's inner voice. That makes total sense. He really hasn't grown up relationship-wise so I can totally see his inner voice being a horny teenage boy.

It's gotta kill both of them to realize that if they'd only talked to each other honestly fourteen years ago all of this could've been avoided. Of course there seems to be a lot more that they need to discuss.

I'm curious to know if Rose really didn't like Bella back in high school and wanted Edward and her apart or if she really was just joking around with him.

They are both breaking my heart right now. Seeing how Edward lived his life after the breakup until current time was so sad. I want to hug Rose for fighting for her brother but want to slap her at the same time for pushing him toward relationships he can't really commit to.

Why do I get a bad feeling that Rose will use Sam being there against Edward with Bella. I just have this bad feeling about that whole situation.

Gah! I love the parallels drawn to canon in this fic that couldn’t be much farther from it.

Nine chapters in (well, eight and the prologue), and the pieces are beginning to fall together, but there are still so many questions left unanswered. This will totally keep me checking my inbox for an alert! I must read the smoldering lemon we’re building up to! I must learn more about the elusive sex-group, The Cullens, and all that their training entails! But mostly, I must find out where I can apply to join in on the hedonism!

Okay, how-where do I even start?

When I saw the summary of this... I was curious. It sounded just like what I was looking for. I wanted sex.

Sex between Jacob and ANYONE but Bella would be good.

What I got was great, fantastic, AMAZING even!

To say that I loved it wouldn't be near enough, to say that you have me addicted to it would be putting it lightly.

I love how you used everything from the books in a totally different but similar pattern.

Jacob is PERFECT, that is how I see him in my mind. I don't see him as an 18 year old kid... he's always older to me. Perhaps it's my way of protecting myself from feeling like a cradle robber. (grins)

Anyway I'm rambling and I'm sorry for that but I wanted you to know that I absolutely loved the story, I'm waiting anxiously for the newest chapter and I just wan't wait to see what happens next.

OH and by the way, I LOVE IT FROM JAKE'S POINT OF VIEW!

How in the hell does this story have so few reviews? This is without a doubt one of the best teen stories I have read.

Okay so now I forgot everything I was going to say. Need to focus! Let's see. First James. He is so drawn to Bella. I don't understand what could have gone so horribly wrong for them? He seems drawn to her vulnerability and have feelings for her he never thought possible. It is like he is able to be himself when he is with her and not have to put on errors or live up to someone else's standards. We know he is there a week (?) earlier than everyone else so my guess is that once his friends arrive he will be back to the old bro's before ho's mentality. And the shame is he is going to throw it all away. Another thought that came to me ... You know there is nothing that says they had to have sex. What if the bro's assume as much and James does not correct them. Don't you know that would piss any girl off, so why would Bella be any different?

Bella's showing up at his school is really doing a number on him as evidenced by his recurring Rolling Stone moments of Satisfaction. There is the part of me that feels bad for him and his image ... NOT. The reader has to love Bella with her strength and tell it like it is demeanor. Loved the way she handled him in Physics. I get the feeling he is resigned to the fact that he really blew it. Does he have a prayer in hell in getting her back.

I am also looking at the Jasper/Bella dynamic. You are writing it pretty low key but I can't help but wonder where that will go. And then of course there is the Emmett/Bella dynamic. So far that has stayed pretty platonic and I hope with that is in me that it will remain like that. I can't help but feel there will come the time that Bella is going to really need the "big brother" she can turn to. Ah, maybe I have just read too much fan fiction, lol.

I haven't said much about the girls and quite frankly I don't have much of a grasp on them although a couple of them do stand out. First is Angela. We haven't seen much of her and all that we have really heard is that she is Edward's girlfriend. We don't know much about that relationship and the thought has crossed my mind that it is only for looks *shrugs shoulders*, a mutual agreement of sorts. I hope that she and Bella are going to form a friendship and we will get more perspective.

Tanya on the other hand has my attention because of her relationship with Edward. She openly seeks his companionship and although we were told the ground rules for sharing in the beginning I don't think she wants to share. And as easy as it has been to sneer at her in the first chapters I find my tune has changed a little after her conversation with her mama. What is it with these men of the rich and infamous? Don't you know that Tanya has to be hurt that this is all she gets and yet she puts out and takes what she can get in hopes of more. I can't help but feel bad for her. On the other hand if it were to come down to her and Bella, well all I can say is the bitch better move out the way. Then I scoff at my own double standard.

I have saved Edward for the last. Yeah that man child holds a piece of heart no matter what his age. Don't you know that Bella has his full attention. Having her in his home has to be hard on him, no pun intended. They are going to develop a relationship whether they want one or not. The question is what will it consist of? I could go on and on here but instead I will leave after two more thoughts.

1. What is the Swan/Cullen connection that brought Bella to Edward's house in the first place.

2. Is Edward the friend that James talked about with the older brother?

And with that I leave you. I believe you may have a chapter to write, after real life committments of course. And I have a story to pimp.

That was phenomenal. I can tell that you did your work for this. The contrast between characters is so brilliantly done. The truth to the time period is really refreshing. It doesn't feel like your knowledge came from some slapshot Hollywood movie, although Chicago is a fantastic movie lol. I really cannot wait for more of this. It's totally my favourite story now and I really think that if you changed the names of the characters you could get this published to a real book. For shizzle.

And I really like that Edward gets his parents in this one. It's always nice to see that he gets his family like it should be.

Phew!!! It is like nothing I have ever read, and I have read alot! Its themes are so real, so deep and the plot is so intense. I have been rec'ing it pretty hard and I still think that is truely deserves the time to be taken to read. It needs some loving! I think it will encourage this truely talented author to continue with this disturbingly addictive read... Please please please read this!!

I actually discovered this fic when there were only three chapters. I read them and loved them, but when the updates came in, I didn’t find the time to keep up with them. So when I saw this fic had been rec’d to us, I knew it was time to catch up!

I struggled with how best to pimp this fic because the plot is so thick and so twisted that to try and summarize here would just butcher it. Also, the characters are so unique but still clearly carry canon traits, and they all have complicated backstories, which haven’t all been explained yet, so, again, I don’t want to butcher them.

This fic contains every dark theme you can think of, but it pulls you in with a strong sense of a light at the end of the darkest tunnel you’ve ever read. It’s not a bright light, and we haven’t been promised an HEA, but I still think you can feel that it’s gotta get better than the way things start out, even if it may have to get worse first.

Briefly put, Bella and Alice are sisters that were forced into slavery when they were orphaned. They’re now strippers and prostitutes with no way out in sight. Jasper and Edward visit the club for Edward’s bachelor party, and though both meet their respective ladies and feel an attraction, only Jasper makes the important connection that Alice is his other half and that the club is much more than it seems.

Well-written, well-thought out, and well-developed, this fic leaves you with a lot of questions – in the good way. She tells the story from all the points of view, and each character has real depth and some serious personal flaws. I love the way they connect over the darkest parts of themselves. Even Jasper, the main hero thus far, is quite dark himself and willing to do things to save the day that most heroes would frown upon.

Unable to make Stolen Souls fit into a neat box for this FFF, I’ll leave you here with some of the quotes that really stood out to me.
